The Launch! program helps 32 under-served youth (18-29 years of age) in the Ottawa area gain entrepreneurship skills and experience through an intensive and hands-on 12 week program.
The program is centred on the creation of a business. Participants will work to identify a business opportunity, prepare the business for launch, then run the enterprise.
Participants will have access to a micro-grant to contribute towards the preparation and launch of their business. The project includes a series of training modules that will provide the youth with the knowledge and practical skills that they can immediately apply to their business. Participants will receive ongoing support from program staff, attend monthly breakfast meetings with entrepreneur mentors and support in accessing other programming to sustain their business upon completion of the program. PQCHC will provide wrap around support services to be provided on an as-needed basis to aid with childcare, transportation and other personal issues to reduce barriers to participation.
To be eligible for Launch!, participants must:
- be between the ages 18 and 29
- be out of work/school
- have an interest and motivation in starting a business
Invest Ottawa and various local entrepreneurs provide in-kind support to PQCHC to help deliver the program.
