Winthrop Court

Welcome to Winthrop Court Community House, a dedicated hub of support and opportunities for residents in the Ottawa Community Housing neighborhoods of Winthrop Private, Eva Taylor Court, and Starflower/Regina Lane. Since 2001, we have been collaborating closely with the community, striving to meet their needs and create strong neighborhood engagement.

At Winthrop Court Community House, we understand the importance of staying connected with our neighborhoods. Through regular assessments of community needs, we actively develop partnerships and seek funding opportunities to ensure that our programs remain relevant and valuable to the communities we serve.

Our small but mighty community hub serves 181 households comprising both singles and families within the three communities. Our location is easily accessible, providing a welcoming drop-in space where supportive staff are readily available. All our programs are completely free of charge, ensuring equal access for everyone.

For children and youth, we offer a variety of after-school and summer programs. These include art programming in partnership with the Ottawa School of Art, an engaging Homework Club, Regina Sports Night, held at the Regina Street Alternative School, and special- events such as Halloween and Christmas celebrations. During school breaks, we provide March Break programming, and in the summer, we organize park parties in our neighborhood park, creating memorable moments of fun and community spirit.

We also recognize the importance of fostering a sense of belonging and well-being among adults in our neighborhoods. We offer engaging adult programs such as cooking and art programs, creating opportunities for community members to learn new skills, connect with their neighbors, and enhance their overall well-being.

At Winthrop Court Community House, we believe that coming together as a community is essential for building stronger bonds and reducing social isolation. Therefore, we regularly host large community events that encourage interaction, collaboration, and a sense of belonging. Through these gatherings, we strive to create an environment where individuals feel more connected to one another and less isolated.

In times of crisis, natural disasters, or instances of violence and tragedy, Winthrop Court Community House acts as a pillar of support. We provide coordination, guidance, and immediate on-site assistance, working closely with Ottawa Community Housing and other key partners to ensure the well-being of our community. Our aim is to be a safe and trusted beacon during challenging times, offering support and referrals to address various needs.

Through our programs and daily interactions, we have fostered strong relationships with community members over the years. Our deep-rooted connection within the community enables us to provide personalized and appropriate support, connecting individuals with the services they require.

At Winthrop Court Community House, we are committed to creating a thriving and inclusive community where everyone feels supported, engaged, and connected.
