Foster Farm Family House

The Foster Farm Family House has been helping families for over 40 years.

We are located at 1085-334 Ramsey Crescent in the West End of Ottawa.

We are a mini community hub serving the 415 families who live in the Foster Farm Ottawa Community Housing neighborhood and outlying area for food bank services as outlined by the Ottawa Food Bank.

We are located directly in the social housing neighbourhood to allow for easy access to programs and services.

Our Community House offers after-school and summer programs for kids (6-12) who live in the Foster Farm community. When funding allows, we run additional programs such as ELF Literacy program, Ice cream shop in the summer, I Love to Sport program and many other critical hours programs. We also offer a variety of social and recreational activities for children, special events, and resources such as Tools for School in partnership with Sharing and Caring.

We provide opportunities for community members to come together to get to know their neighbours, to learn skills, and gain a sense of belonging and wellbeing. When funding allows, we offer adult engagement and community-building opportunities, such as art programs, coffee and conversation.

Seasonal resources and partnerships allow us to register clients living in our OCH community for support such as Christmas Hampers, Christmas Exchange and Toy Mountain.

We host a large variety of community celebrations such as Halloween Haunted house, BBQ, internet café and seasonal get togethers. These gatherings help people feel more connected and less isolated.

During moments of crisis and natural disaster, we provide coordination and guidance, and help lead the emergency response. When there are incidents and tragedy in the community, we are a safe, stable, trusted haven, present onsite immediately with Ottawa Community Housing and other key partners to provide support and referrals of all kinds.

We provide resources such as Baby Cupboard, Pet Cupboard, Gently Used Closet and MLC Computer Lab for public access. We support sending faxes and photocopying as needed.

We are deeply embedded in the community, both in terms of our location, and the social connections we have created with community members. We know the community well and so are positioned well to provide individualized, appropriate support, and connect people with the services that they need. The Foster Farm team offers wrap-around supports; we make referrals and let the community know about the beneficial services and resources available to them.
