Diabetes

The Community Diabetes Education Program (CDEP) of Ottawa, offers free education to adults living with Type 2 diabetes and pre-diabetes.

Pinecrest-Queensway Community Health Centre (PQCHC) and South Nepean Community Health Centre (SNCHC) are two of its service sites.

Groups are facilitated by a registered nurse and a registered dietitian who provide a variety of tools and resources that enable individuals to live well with diabetes.

Topics include:

  • Nutrition

  • Exercise

  • Glucose monitoring

  • Foot care

  • Self-care practices

New groups are available each month and individuals are welcome to bring a support person.

Nurses and dietitians are also available through this program for optional one-on-one appointments, in addition to the group program.

Insulin initiation is another program service provided to adults with Type 2 diabetes, who have been referred by their physicians.

Please contact 613-233-6655 for registration information and group meeting times.
