Clean Needle Exchange and Safer Inhalation
The PQCHC medical clinic works with the City of Ottawa to provide a free and anonymous needle exchange program for people who use intravenous drugs.
By providing access to clean, sterile syringes and removing used needles from circulation, the program reduces the spread of HIV and hepatitis in the west end community and beyond.
Pinecrest-Queensway Community Health Centre also offers free safer inhalation equipment to residents of Ottawa, including glass stems, mouthpieces, brass screens and chopsticks.
The use of the wrong devices to smoke crack cocaine and other drugs can lead to blistering and open sores on the lips and gums, which contribute to the spread of HCV (hepatitis C) and HIV among users.
Services are offered at our PQCHC location during the following hours:
9:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays
1:00 - 3:30 p.m. Thursdays
Please present yourself to the medical reception desk on the 2nd floor.
