Statement from Pinecrest-Queensway Community Health Centre
(OTTAWA) November 5, 2014 – The most recent incidents that have taken place in the west end neighborhoods have caused great concerns and sadness. Pinecrest-Queensway Community Health Centre (PQCHC), Michele Heights Community House (MHCH) and Ottawa Community Housing (OCH) have worked together, as partners, for many years.
We have always been impressed with the leadership that comes from the residents and the value and efforts put into building healthy and safe communities. These recurring incidents are a concern to us. We have and will continue to reach out to residents of these impacted communities to provide support and assistance during this difficult time. We will call upon additional partners to provide resources as required and continue to be proactive for the well-being of the residents. We are also working closely with Councillor Taylor’s office, Ottawa Police Service and Crime Prevention Ottawa, to find effective solutions.
We, as partners, truly believe in meaningful tenant engagement strategies and integrated approaches to safety as key initiatives that will ultimately lead to safer and healthier communities.
Every resident deserves a safe and secure environment in which to work, live and play. We look forward to further discussions with residents and service providers so that together we can continue the great work that is happening in the community.
