Families First

Pinecrest-Queensway and the City of Ottawa partner to provide support services to families who have been recently made homeless, or face ongoing challenges in maintaining their current housing.

The Families First Team provides support where families are most comfortable, in their own homes, and work to identify specific challenges and priorities for each family member. Families are then connected with existing resources and services at PQCHC and around the city of Ottawa to help them maintain housing. Support is offered over a nine month period and is available in both English and French. Cultural interpretation will be made available to families as needed, when possible.

Referral Process

Registration with Pinecrest-Queensway’s Families First program is by referral. Families who are currently homeless and accessing the City of Ottawa’s Family Shelter Services through the Carling Family Shelter and the Forward Family Shelter may be referred by Shelter staff. Families living in the community who are vulnerably housed and require support may also be referred to the Families First program through Housing Help and Action Housing.
