The Job Track Childcare Program, is a 15 week training program that focuses on providing pre-apprenticeship training and work experience to those individuals interested in working in the child care industry. PQCHC in partnership with Andrew Fleck Child Care Services will provide participants with pre-placement training that will include 3 weeks of in-class group-based employability skills and pre-apprenticeship theory training.
Participants will be able to obtain several certifications during the course of their training such as First Aid and CPR Level C, WHMIS, AODA and Worker Health and Safety Awareness in 4 steps. They will also receive additional trainings on conflict resolution, role of an educator and caregiver, positive interactions, effective communication, time management and much more. These training are dedicated to enhancing the participants’ core employability and pre-apprenticeship skills and knowledge to prepare them for work placements in child care agencies. Following training, participants will be placed in a 12 week paid placement at 28 hrs. per week.
To be eligible for the Job Track Childcare Program you must be:
- 16 years of age and older
- Completed Grade 12 or provide equivalency
- Out of work and out of school
- Experiencing barriers to employment
- Willing to be immunized and provide a police record check
