Job Track: Childcare
In April 2013, PQCHC welcomed a new employment program, Job Track: Childcare (JTC).
JTC offers Ottawa youth an opportunity to acquire necessary experience in the childcare sector through a paid 14 week work experience program. JTC partners with local childcare providers to help youth (18 – 30 years of age) develop skills and knowledge needed to enter the sector.
Enrolment in the free JTC program offers:
- 30 hours per week for 14 weeks
- 336 hours of work experience in a childcare centre
- 84 hours of employment and industry related workshops
- Paid $10.25 per hour for all program activities
- $500 completion bonus
In order to be eligible for Pinecrest-Queensway’s Job Track: Childcare program, applicants must be facing a barrier to employment, live in Ottawa, be 18 – 30 years of age, possess Canadian citizenship, permanent residency or refugee status and be legally entitled to work in Ontario. Applicants cannot be currently employed, in school or have received Employment Insurance benefits in the last three years.
10 youth are accepted per session, and sessions run three times per year. Next sessions begin in late August and early December. For more information, call 613-820-4922 ext. 3368.
The JTC program is administered by PQCHC and is funded by Service Canada.
