Together We Can (TWC) Youth Mentorship Program
Together We Can (TWC) Youth Mentorship Program is a local, culturally relevant mentorship opportunity for Black youth ages 12-18. Through the Ontario Black Youth Action Plan, the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services is increasing opportunities for Black children, youth and families. The plan was announced in February 2017 and is in alignment with Ontario’s 3-Year Anti-Racism Strategic Plan which is focused on eliminating systemic, race-based disparities for Black children and youth.
- The program will focus on improving the emotional and social well-being of low income black youth living in west-end of Ottawa.
- The program has two specific outcomes to increase a sense of belonging amongst low-income black youth ages 12-18, living in low-income or social housing:
- Build strong cultural identities through exposure to, and work with black mentors and;
- Increase their civic engagement through developing advocacy skills.
