Community Celebration Seed Grant

Celebrating the dedication and commitment of residents, volunteers and staff in helping to build healthy communities

The Community Celebration Seed Fund was established in December 2014 through a donation made by a very committed community supporter.  The $25,000 fund will provide one-time funding to celebrate initiatives that build and strengthen the overall health and well-being of Pinecrest-Queensway residents and communities.  Up to $5,000/year may be awarded in amounts of up to $1,000/initiative.

The criteria for successful initiatives include:

  • Client groups and/or resident involvement, and
  • Activities that help to promote health and well-being, and
  • Initiatives that would benefit from some additional one-time seed funding

Invitations for nominations to the Community Celebration Seed Grant will be posted on PQCHCs website and communicated through PQ programs and services.  A review committee composed of Joan Gillespie (a former Board member), a current Board representative and a staff representative will meet once/quarter to review nominations and make decisions related to the awarding of the grant.  Amounts of up to $1,000 per initiative for up to $5,000/year will be available.

The successful applicants will be awarded the funding after decisions are made. This award will include a presentation. Local media will be invited to cover these presentations to help recognize and support community accomplishments.  Successful applicants will also be invited to the PQCHC AGM to be recognized at the AGM for the work that they are doing in the community.
